ALPHA XI DELTA WAS MY SOCIAL SORORITY AT FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY. THROUGH THE YEARS, MANY TIMES QUITE A FEW OF US HAVE COME TOGETHER FOR REUNIONS...SOME VERY SMALL, AND SOME WITH AS MANY AS 25-30 OF US ATTENDING. I AM GOING BACK IN TIME AND POSTING SOME PHOTOS OF SOME OF THE REUNIONS I HAVE ATTENDED, AND ALSO SOME THAT MYRA ANNE LAY-STEPHENS HAS SHARED WITH ME OF ONES I DID NOT ATTEND. ENJOY, AND VISIT BACK OFTEN AS I WILL BE ADDING MORE.
WHEN WE ARE YOUNG AND IN THE MIDDLE AGE, WE HAVE A TENDENCY TO NOT WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH "OLD" THINGS. THEN, AS WE GET OLDER, WE HAVE A TENDENCY TO LAPSE INTO THINKING OF THE "GOOD OLD DAYS." THUS, IN LOOKING THROUGH MANY OF MY PHOTOS, I DECIDED TO GROUP SOME OF THE "GOOD OLD DAYS" PHOTOS TOGETHER. THUS: ANTIQUITY.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY A VISIT TO THE PAST.
ALL PHOTOS TAKEN IN BACK YARD OF THE VARIOUS VISITORS WE HAVE HAD AROUND THE FEEDER AND BIRD BATH.
I put up a Blue Bird house in "My English Garden" in my back yard two years ago. I did not have a single visitor. then someone told me they would not nest in a house that was located too close to bushes or shrubbery due to squirrels and other critters being able to get to the house. Last month I put a new house up in an area clear of anything. I put it so I could watch it through my office window. Finally, they came. My entries are taken through my office window with a tripod set up and camera on remote (so I would not scare them away!) My Hawk photos were taken in rapid fire sequence as I saw it on top of my newly put up Bluebird House. He was eating a Cuban Tree Frog which is very invasive and not native to this area of Central Florida...so he was actually doing me a favor by killing it. My Cardinal family is a resident family, having been with me for a long time. I was fortunate to be able to get the momma feeding its fledgling My birds bring me so much joy.
My dear and sweet second great-grandchild, Kyndal Kay Broer, was born January 17, 2018, in Lakeland, Fl.. Her parents are Austin and Lana Broer...my oldest grrandson and wife. Her brother, Hunter, was born in 2016. She is such a joy, and she and Hunter are best buddies.
THE BROER AND ESCOE FAMILIES JOINED TOGETHER THIS CHRISTMAS DAY FOR THE FIRST TIME. LANA HAD HER FIRST CHRISTMAS IN FLORIDA' AUSTIN AND LANA CELEBRATED THEIR FIRST CHRISTMAS AS A MARRIED COUPLE; BOTH GRANDPARENTS, ONE ON EACH SIDE...SONNY ESCOE, AND SHIRLEY BENNETT WERE PRESENT'; FIRST TIME EATING ON THE LANAI WITH A FIRE IN THE FIREPLACE...FIRST CHRISTMAS FOR THE CHICKENS AND GUIENA HEN. IT WAS A WONDERFUL DAY, FILLED WITH LOVE AND FABULOUS FOOD, FELLOWSHIP, AND TOGETHERNESS.
EACH YEAR, AROUND DECEMBER, IN BUSHNELL, FL, THE PEOPLE COME FROM ALL OVER TO TAKE PART IN THE REENACTMENT OF DADE'S BATTLE.
JULY 28, 2011, WARREN AND I FLEW OUT OF ORLANDO TO FRANKFURT, GERMANY, THEN ON TO COPENHAGEN, DENMARK. ON THE 31ST OF AUGUST, WE JOINED MY DAUGHTER, SHARON, AND TED, HER HUSBAND, AND THREE OF THE GRANDCHILDREN FOR A TWELVE DAY CRUISE GOING TO THE FOLLOWING PLACES: OSLO, KRISTIANSAND, BERGEN, AND ALESUND NORWAY; INVERGORDON AND EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND; NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND; BRUSSELS, BELGIUM. THE CRUISE ENDED IN DOVER, ENGLAND. WE RENTED TWO CARS AND SPENT THREE DAYS IN THE COTSWOLD AREA. THIS BEAUTIFUL "LEAF CHANGE" TRIP BEGAN WITH THE INTENTION OF ATTENDING A NEWMAR REGIONAL RALLY AT THE OUTER BANKS, NC. HURRICANE IRENE DECIDED TO DO EXTENSIVE HIGHWAY DAMAGE TO THE OUTER BANKS RESULTING IN THE CANCELLATION OF OUR RALLY. PLANS HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE TO MEET SHARON AND TED AT CHAPEL HILL, NC, FOR THE DUKE/FSU GAME AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE RALLY. TICKETS TO THE GAME WERE PURCHASED AND RV PARK RESERVATIONS MADE IN/NEAR CHAPEL HILL. WHEN THE RALLY PLANS WENT AWRY, THE FOUR OF US DECIDED TO KEEP OUR GAME PLANS. WE MET AT THE PARK, IN SITES SIDE BY SIDE, AND WENT TO THE GAME ON SATURDAY. THIS WAS THE FIRST GAME THAT THE THREE FSU GRADUATES HAD EVER ATTENDED TOGETHER. WE HAD A BLAST. SHARON AND TED WENT BACK TO FLORIDA ON SUNDAY AND WARREN AND I CONTINUED TO MAGGIE VALLEY, NC, STAYING AT PRIDE RV PARK FOR A WEEK. WE MADE DAY TRIPS TO PIGEON FORGE AND DOLLYWOOD, TO ASHEVILLE TO THE BILTMORE HOUSE, TO GATLINBURG TO POTTERY MAKING AND CRAFTS SECTION.
RECENT PHOTOS OF THE 300 YEAR OLD FARMHOUSE ON OLD HIGHWAY 33, BETWEEN MOULTRIE AND SYLVESTER, GEORGIA. EVERYONE IS DECEASED NOW, SO IT IS OCCUPIED BY A COUSIN OF MINE...A GRANDSON OF MY MOTHER'S SISTER, NETTIE LEWIS. SHE AND MY MOTHER, MARGUERITE GRUBBS CAME TO LIVE AND BE RAISED BY MY GREAT AUNT WHEN THEIR MOTHER DIED AT A YOUNG AGE. MY GRANDFATHER HAD HIS SISTER, RHODA BOONE RAISE THEM FROM AN EARLY AGE. MY AUNT NETTIE MARRIED AND SHE AND HER HUSBAND STAYED ON AT THE OLD HOME PLACE. MY MOTHER MARRIED AND MOVED TO PANACEA, FLORIDA. AFTER I WAS BORN I SPENT SO MUCH TIME AT THIS OLD HOME, MOST OF TIME, ALL SUMMER LONG. I HAVE, IN MY POSSESSION, THE OLD WICKER SOFA AND CHAIR THAT ALWAYS STAYED ON THE BREEZE WAY, AND THE OLD BISCUIT BOARD MY GREAT AUNT USED TO MAKE HER WOOD STOVE DELICIOUS BISCUITS. I TREASURE ALL MY MEMORIES OF THOSE DAYS, AND SO WISH MY GRANDCHILDREN COULD HAVE HAD SOME OF THE EXPERIENCES WHICH I SO ENJOYED.
I FOUND MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER'S , IN MT. PIZGAH CEMETERY (NEAR SYLVESTER, GA) AND VISITED THE SITE OF THE OLD "HOME PLACE" WHERE MY MOTHER AND HER SISTER, NETTIE, WERE RAISED BY HUGH AND RHODAE BOONE (MY GRANDFATHER'S SISTER AND HUSBAND). PICTURES INCLUDE NETTIE'S GRAVE, BOONE GRAVE, AND NETTIE'S SON, JIMMY'S GRAVE, AND MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER'S GRAVE. I NEVER HAD SEEN SOME OF THESE PRIOR TO THE TRIP TO THE REUNION IN JACKSON, GA, OCTOBER 3, 2009. PHOTOS ARE FROM THIS TRIP.
THE MAJORITY OF PHOTOS OF THE HERONS, FEATURED IN THIS CATEGORY, WERE TAKEN IN AND AROUND THE CENTRAL FLORIDA AREA., IN LAKE COUNTY. THE MAJESTIC STATURE OF A HERON IS SO POISED AND PEACEFUL...SEEMINGLY GAZING OFF INTO SPACE. THEY WILL STAY IN ONE PLACE FOR HOURS AS THEY WAIT FOR THE PERFECT SECOND TO CAPTURE THEIR PREY.
Returned to live in Leesburg area at the end of January 2019, living in Highland Lakes Retirement Community which is a mile from where Warren and I lived and played golf prior to his death in 2012. I have rejoined my former ladies' golf league at the Plantation since HL does not have a golf course.
Mainly photos of Sand Hill Cranes and other birds in the neighborhood. Several outside views of my Villa where I live.
LANA, HUNTER'S MOM, WAS GIVEN A BABY SHOWER BY SHARON BROER, HER MOTHER-IN-LAW, LANA'S MOM WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND, BUT WAS ABLE TO BE HOOKED UP TO SKYE AND SEE THE PRESENTS BEING OPENED. SHARON CHOSE A WOODLAND AND ANIMAL THEME, WITH SELF-DESIGNED TABLE ARRANGEMENTS. GREAT FOOD WAS SERVED, AND A GOOD TIME HAD BY ALL.
MY FIRST GREAT-GRANDSON, HUNTER DALLAS BROER, WAS BORN APRIL 15, 2016 TO AUSTIN (MY OLDEST GRANDSON) AND HIS SWEET WIFE, LANA ESCOE BROER. HE HAS BEEN A CONSTANT JOY IN THE LIVES OF ALL THE FAMILIES...BOTH ESCOE AND BROER LANA HAS DOCUMENTED SO MUCH OF HIS GROWTH BECAUSE WITH HER PARENTS BEING MISSIONARIES IN ECUADOR, SHE LIKES FOR HER PARENTS TO GET A DAILY PHOTO VIA FACEBOOK. WE ALL ARE SO THANKFUL THAT SUZETTE AND SONNY, LANA'S GRANDFATHER, GOT TO BE HERE FOR HIS BIRTH. FORTUNATELY, MIKE WAS ABLE TO GET HERE A FEW DAYS LATER. I WILL CONTINUE TO POST PHOTOS ON MY WEB SITE AS LONG AS I AM ABLE. PRAISE GOD FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL GIFT OF JOY AND HAPPINESS WHICH HUNTER DISPLAYS TO ALL AROUND HIM.
Warren and I attended a Newmar Kountry Klub rally in Sunshine Key in December, 2009. These entries are from our visit to Key West and Big Pine Key (at the winter home of my cousin Michele Tribbett from PA).
KNOWN FOR THE LARGE NUMBER OF SWANS WHO CALL THIS LAKE HOME. FIRST SWANS GIVEN TO THE CITY OF LAKELAND BY THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND. RESIDENTS AROUND THE LAKE HAVE SWAN STATUES IN THEIR YARDS. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL AREA TO VISIT, TAKE PHOTOS, OR JUST ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF THE MANY INHABITANTS WHO CALL THIS HOME.
LEON HIGH SCHOOL IN TALLAHASSEE, FL,..."THE RED CLAY HILLS OF TALLAHASSEE HARBOR MEMORIES DEAR...MEMORIES OF OUR DEAR OLD HIGH SCHOOL...THAT WE ALL REVERE." A PART OF OUR ALMA MATER SONG STATES IT PERFECTLY, AS WE ALL TREASURE OUR MEMORIES OF THE DAYS SPENT AT LEON. WE CONTINUE TO COME TOGETHER AS A CLASS SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR IN TALLAHASSEE THROUGH MINI-REUNIONS (ONE CALLED, "THE GATHERING AT THE BARN" WITH TANNY AND JACK BUFORD AS OUR HOSTS) , MONTHLY LUNCHEONS HELD BY THE LADIES AND THE MEN, AND THEN A FORMAL REUNION EVERY FIVE YEARS. WE ALL DEARLY LOVE TO STAY IN TOUCH. WE FEEL WE ARE UNIQUE IN OUR CLOSENESS AFTER ALL THESE YEARS GONE BY.
iI haave now been living in Auburndale over three years, and have created a garden which invites so many various varieties of birds. This category will feature some of my favorites.
When I moved to Auburndale and remodeled my "built in fifties" little home, the yard was all weeds...nothing else except on Crepe Myrtle tree. With my daughter's help in the design of it, I totally landscaped it all around the fence line areas. I made a little garden area in the back so I could see it through my kitchen area. It has had many additions since its inception. The photos reflect the changes since inception.
RALLIES AND NEWS OF "JUST" THE SEA TURTLES OF NEWMAR KOUNTRY KLUB.

This , hopefully, will be a photographic record of Sharon's *my one and only child" Life, She was born in Harlingen, Texas, in Harlingen AFB Hospital, All her moves and places lived are the result of her father, Stan Tippin being a career AF officer., Sharon was a super mom to Austin, Harrison, Alexis, and Savannah Broer, a most wonderful daughter to myself, Shirley Tippin Bennett and her father, Stan Tippin. My heart will never be healed from the loss of my only child, but knowing she is with her Heavenly Father and knowing she watches over me, gives me the strength to go on.
I LEFT HOME ON THE 13TH OF JULY AND RETURNED ON OCTOBER 22, 2013, AFTER TRAVELING OVER 9,000 MILES CROSS COUNTRY, ALL BY MYSELF. THE PHOTOS IN THIS CATEGORY WERE ALL TAKEN DURING THIS FANTASTIC TRIP.
THE SUN COMES UP, THE SUN GOES DOWN, THE MOON RISES...THUS ARE THE CYCLES OF OUR GOD-GIVEN EXISTANCE!
After having Covid at the end of August until the time I was released from Rehab in Wildwood, my daughter and family made a decision that I could not live alone. They moved me from Leesburg to my daughter's home on a temporary basis. As I progressed in strength enough, I then moved to Independent Living in Celebration, Fl. I am in a one-bedroom apartment on the third floor and love it. Absolutely everything is included in the rent...even an in-house phone, DirectTV...everything. I do not even really need a car as the shuttle takes me to any place within 15 miles. My dog and companion, JB, is here with me...happy and spoiled from all the attention he gets.
THE WILLIS FAMILY GATHERED IN CRAWFORDVILLE FOR THE FIRST REUNION SINCE ONE WE HAD THIRTY-SOMETHING YEARS AGO, WITH ANN AND JACK HENDERSON ONCE AGAIN OPENING THEIR HOME TO US FOR LUNCH.
