MY LIFE CHANGES IN THE YEAR OF 2021!
by SHIRLEY MARGUERITE W. BENNETT
In 2019, I moved back to Leesburg, Fl, from my home in Auburndale, Fl, due to the fact I wanted to be back with my Plantation golf buddies and friends. I rented a Villa in the Retirement community of Highland Lakes, a mile north of The Plantation at Leesburg. All was good and I was happy to be playing on the Plantation Ladies' Eighteen Holer golf league once again, and I had one of my very dearest friends and her husband, Linda and Ron Mayne, living in the same community. Then came the end of May of 2021...May 28th. I had been having issues with my colon and was really having a difficulty getting the problem under control. In the early hours of the morning of the 28th, I broke out in a cold sweat, and down I went, landing on my butt and back, and hit head on the sharp corner of a table. Managed to crawl back to bed after about 15 minutes on the floor, and called my friend Linda at 7:30 AM She came right over and took me to the emergency room. In taking my vitals, the nurse told me my blood sugars were very high...278...and that was probably why I fainted. Admitted, poked, prodded, Xrayed, and several other tests. I was in there a week, and very weak when I was released. My youngest granddaughter, Savanna Margueriiite came up and stayed a little over a week, until my first follow-up Doctor appointment. My Dr. in Leesburg started me on once-a-week insulin shots (at his office because I could not give them to myself.
